This was an exercise in color theory - with a warm/cool color scheme, and a snowleopard in a pose I sketched up during one of my random fits of sketchiness. I am really pleased with the way this one turned out. 6.25"x9" (roughly - I have a few pieces of illo. board this size that the art store cut for me. I did take some artistic liberties with the foliage, as I'm not all that familiar with lake plants. I had a lot of fun painting this one - due to the complex lighting scheme (dimly lit marshy forest, and blue energy bolts)... Anyways, just doing a lot more experimentaiton with paints... I'm rather fascinated with Ancient China, and the artistic cinematography in Hong Kong kung fu movies set in Ancient China, such as "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", and "Hero" - which provided inspiration for this piece. I also wanted to really have a setting that felt real - that felt like the character was really immersed in the setting - using lighting, perspective, and the rain to unify the piece.
