Sorry for the art dumpPosted 5 months ago
Well, life's been crap this past month (December).
Lets recap. Starting on the first, my date of birth mind you, if a day like that is a prerequisite of things to come, then lets hope they stay few and far between... Started off like any other day, went to work... only to find out that 7 people decided not to show, making my already difficult customer service job that much harder. My work load was heavy, made heavier by the people who didn't show. The phone was ringing off the hook, the rentals were piling up fast, and I almost always had a line of 30+ customers trying to go home. So here i am juggling between checking in and locking rentals, answering EVERY FREAKIN HONE CALL (mostly consisting of questions regarding "What time we closed" and drunken idiots trying to prank Hastings) I also had ot try and get every customer out the door in a time frame of literally 30 seconds once they made it to my counter and started checking out. The managers were being dicks/dykes and most of hte customers were angry and belligerent. Moving on, yes, that was pretty bad, but only the start of the month. So as time goes on, I have a few more bad days similar to that. Not nearly as bad mind you, but pretty rough. Shopping season starts, almost every day in customer service was as bad as December 1st. But I kept my cool for the most part, doing my best to keep things in check. Then on Christmas eve, I get stuck in a large department store with only FIVE people who decided to show, here we are trying to take care of a store packed like a sardine can with FIVE people. We were so freakin busy that we didn't get OUT of hte store until 2:30am... and we were scheduled till 12... Same deal on the 26th... Then on top of that, on a Monday, dun remember which atm... dun wanna... on my way riding to work on my bike, I get hit pointe blank by a small white pickup truck, quite intentionally, and it was a hit and run. As I lay there on my back 8 feet from my bike staring up the hill watching his tail lights fade in the distance, too dazed to try and read his tags from that distance... so I limp the rest of the way to work, call my family and the police (who in turn give me the shaft and say they can't do anything about it, though the officer was very polite and kind) I am deeply indebted to one of my coworkers, Spring, who went above and beyond to make sure I was okay. I did the best I could to show her my appreciation through my art... My entire body was shivering from shock and pain... luckily, and I use that term lightly I only escaped with a hurt wrist neck and shoulders, and minor bruises/scrapes. Next day I went back to work to the surprise of my coworkers with an achy left wrist (my drawing hand nonetheless) arm and back/neck. The month kept at that horrible level... Here's to hoping that this week isn't a sign of things to come for this month... what with two feet of snow and shoveling. Shoveling the driveway approach only to have it filled with three times as much snow and ice by the friendly neighborhood snow plow, and having to walk through nearly 2 feet of snow the entire way to work and back. (it's hitting me hard today, the past three days of hard work and pain catches up fast) And you all know how much I miss my family... Needless to say, I am now in a crummy mood... |
