Suggestions for FAP

Posted 2 weeks ago

Apparently, there are still bugs being worked out in Furry Art Pile 3.0. I am continuing to inform the administrator as I come across them. In the meantime, I wanted to open up a suggestions blog where others and myself could post proposed ideas for renovations and additions to Furry Art Pile's features.

Please note that despite what changes are implemented, I would prefer that Furry Art Pile's submission process retain the simplicity it is currently. This site has the least complicated and most efficient process I've seen and I largely don't want to see it changed.

Outbox for Notes
Most messaging forums feature both an inbox and outbox for private notes; this forum only makes available the inbox. An outbox usually serves the sender the assurance that he or she did deliver the desired note and also maintains a comfortable record of what he or she exactly wrote.

Dimension Tag
When users post new submissions, they are automatically given what Furry Art Pile has dubbed "power tags", such as usermadplumber. I'd like to propose a new type of power tag which records the dimensions of raster image submissions. For example, the power tag dim:1024x768 would return raster image submissions with wallpaper-sized dimensions.

MP3s
My realization that Fur Affinity permitted music submissions was fairly new. There are a few users from that forum whose medium is remixes and it would be nice if they chose to post here as well. A difficult part about allowing the posting of MP3s is moderating them; it takes longer to listen to an entire MP3 than it is to gloss over a raster image. I was originally going to encompass this suggestion to include MIDIs, but I assume those to be unfriendly formats for iPod users.

Joint Works Submission
This might be a throw-away suggestion as, again, I don't want to complicate the current simplicity of submissions. However, perhaps in the [first page] of the submission process, there can be an additional option for a joint works submission. By joint works submission, I mean a work that pertains to two users. For example, one user was the penciller and the other user was inker. Instead of both users posting their own submissions, one user can post the submission and assign the other user as having joint works status on it. Hence, the submission has both users' power tags on it and appears in both users' galleries.

User Critique Status
One thing I do not want to do is to alienate users by posting critiques of their submissions that is grossly unwelcome. This suggestion is that within the user's profile should be a radio setting that determines the level of critique that a user desires for any and all submissions. For example, a "red" setting could be the default and would dictate that the user wants no critiquing whatsoever; a "yellow" setting would dictate that the user only wants mild to moderate critiquing; a "green" setting would dictate that the user wants thorough and absolute critiques of his or her works.

Anyway, that's all I can think of so far. Users with your ideas and concepts are certainly welcome to share. Thank you for your time.
