Meh.

Posted 1 month ago

Meh. How frustrating!

Still no luck with the job hunt. It's always fun when you hear the news "Well, looks like we're in a recession now!" right when I'm let go from my job. Yeeeeaaah. And I'm still waiting to hear on my unemployment status. I don't see why I wouldn't get unemployment, but...

Wheeee.... :P

This is unfortunate, as it means that I am definitely NOT going to AnthroCon this year. It's not worth the hassle and expense, and I'd not make enough to really make the trip worthwhile, expense-wise. That is, IF I had anything new to sell.

I've not been drawing much lately. I still want to, but. Meh.

Just a random thought. I think that gradually, I've not felt as fired up about "furry fandom" as I used to. I mean, I love love love anthropomorphic animals, but I'm not sure if I like the fandom anymore. Why? Various reasons, and I'm not going to go on about them here.

Maybe I'm missing something, or forgotten something about why the fandom interested me in the first place.

(I define "furry" as an anthropomorphic animal, and "fandom" is a group of fans that really like that topic. I define "furry fandom" as "a group of people who really like anthropomorphic animals")

QUESTION FOR YOU: What makes anthropomorphic animals or furry fandom truly special for you? If there's something "magical" about it, what drives it for you?

Maybe I can recapture some of my own magic. :)

I think if your let go, you should be entitled. I was let go a while ago from a job I didn't really care about. It was a nice break getting unemployment. But if you go on vacation or something like that, you can't let them know, because they'll cancel your benefits.

the thing I like about the fandom is the different things people come up with. Some of the obscure porn people make is hilarious. Plus without the fandom, who else would you talk to about cartoons and video games and anthro art and pornography? Where else can you get hugs from bunches of anthro mascots?

Everyone goes to cons for different reasons. Some like to party, some love to fur suit, I just like to hang out with other artists and trade drawings. Since I don't really know many local furs.

You might just be over-exposed to it, or stuck in a rut. I mean cheese-cake is great, but having it every day can make it really mundane or even disgusting. You could try taking a break for a bit, or looking into different aspects of it.

I'm in it for the anthro art, and I've met some really cool people, through the fandom.

Folks and furry art, I guess, heh.

agh, that's unfortunate you could'nt go after all...oh well, maybe next year then?

as for the fandom...I'm mostly in for it for the art, everyone's art style varies wildly and it keeps things interesting. There's also the sense of fantasy of having walking, talking animals doing things people would normally do and sometimes fantasizng we're one of them I guess.

I guess its the same with any fandom, anime, sci-fi, etc...people have their own reasons they're in them, the biggest reason normally is because they find other people with shared interests they can relate to.

That sucks.... Finding a job right now isn't easy. (I blame the war...)

I do hope you will be able to go to MFF this year...

I'm going to have a bit more money this year, and I was hoping to get some more bookmarks and folios from you... (Can't order them from the mail... long story...)

I hope you find something soon!

    =^.^=

as to your question, most likely has to do with a more spiritual side of myself as to what drives it for me...

I think I was attracted to the fandom because of the sheer amount of creative freedom that you have when you draw furry characters. Namely because, there's no real set definition on what a furry should look like. Every artist has their own idea of what a furry would look like and many fans enjoy that simple concept.

I like it cause of the creativity, and the freedom of expression. Also I've seen a lot of phenomenal artists like you all over. Also I have my own cast of furries! Come to my gallery and see!
