Artist commentary

The Great race of Yith was so known because the creatures had mastered the art of time travel. They were able to send their minds into the far past and future all over the universe, where they inhabited the bodies of other organisms. They also did this for research purposes, gathering firsthand knowledge and recording it in countless volumes that eventually made them almost omniscient. It is unknown what their original forms were like, as their home planet has long since died out, but they inhabited Earth's past by taking over the bodies of strange conical entities.

So sayeth H.P. Lovecraft, and here's my rendition of what the Great Race might look like as a female (their conical hosts have no real sex, as they reproduce by releasing spores into shallow water).

Enjoy!
