    Continuing:

    Well, shortly after I got kicked out of CCD, my father got killed at work and I REALLY rebelled against God. Blamed the man upstairs for everything and severed my ties for a few years. I pretty much inwardly died, not caring about anything and promptly flunked school for a series of years.

    My mom, not knowing what to do, sent me to a Christian Brothers boarding school named Saint Pauls. To this day, I don't know wether to bless the place or curse it. The "dark side" of the schools other boarders led me upon a path of destruction, robbery, and very close to drugs. Not to mention a small cult of Satanists that were trying to groom me for the picking. Ofcourse we are talking about a three year period here, I'm just trying to make this short and sweet mon.

    Also note, I was a bullys dream. Lanky, scrawny, probably weighed 125 pounds soaking wet, timid, blah, blah, blah... My turning point was when I walked into a Satanic initiaton, disturbing to say the least. I found out that my roommate was part of that cult, and well he tried to forcably convert me. Scare tactics and all that mental crud. But I was more afraid of what they were worshiping and HOW they were doing the worship than any tactic used. It finally came to the point that my rommie was gonna try to kill me. He got busted with drugs the weekend I was away at home, so instead of killing me, he took out his anger on all my stuff left in the room. What a mess. =+{

    So I got bounced from roommate to roommate, each with their own religion, and started wondering about my spiritual life. I decided to learn as much as I could about those other religions and discovered that most of them are nearly identical. Leaving me to surmize that all religions are basically the same, edited by humans to fufill whatever need they felt. But due to this similarity, I expanded my research to include others like New Age and Wiccan, plus some of the Asian beliefs. Most carry similarities, leading me to believe that there is a God out there, but the pure truth of this matter has been fragmented and assumed different flavors over time. Short version, if it feels right, chances are it may be a portion of the truth you seek. =+}

    Hope I didn't put ya to sleep there mon. Next time I'll give ya the quickie version of how I melded Catholic and Wiccan together to form my belief. Cheers mon! =+D

      Heya Chea,

      No way did you put me to sleep! That was fascinating stuff :-o

      We seem to have a lot in common. I was a bullied kid too, but because I was a HUGE kid, I was swarmed or they got some dude three grades older to do the job - no one tried me 1:1. I was stabbed once and the cops gave MY PARENTS shit for raising such a "wimp".

      That was in 1978 - I can imagine what kids go through NOW :-(

      We have arrived at the same conclusion then ^v^

        Wow, I guess bullies are a world wide thing. I still don't get what drives bullies even to this day. =+\

        Continuing:

        There came a point at that school where I had had enough of people imposing their will on me. It took me until the very end of my sophmore year to take that stand. One of the bullies knocked my book bag out of my hands and the books went flying everywhere (note: I never used my locker so I carried all my books all the time), this was one of my bad days and I told him to pick the books up.

        Typical bully fashion he jeered at me and started with the name calling, next thing I knew I had him by the throat and sent him crashing thru a large window at the entrance of the dorms. Sitting in a chair inside the entrance room was my Prefect Brother Bernard. He looked at the stunned bully and at me in painfully obvious amusement and said, "Damn Chris, I was wondering when you were going to grow a set of balls." Then, he had the bully sweep up the mess while I gathered my books. I only got messed with once after that, but when this other bully saw I was ready to take some lumps and deliver a few, he went looking for easier prey.

        With this new found confidence I began to explore my innerself, and with the help of a Japanese Buddist roommate, discovered that I was missing a spiritual fire to fuel my oddly complex being. I once again embraced the Roman Catholic faith, this time taking the scriptures with a grain of salt and tempered it with open mindedness. I even went as far as learning biblical greek and hebrew languages to translate the original texts for myself. This led to another discovery, the texts are massively incomplete on a whole, with gaping holes in text where pages have decayed or been otherwise damaged. Infact, there are parts of the bible that are nothing more than the corner of a scroll with small bits and pieces that are ASSUMED to have been a part of the scroll.

        At this point I realized that the interpertation and the hand of man had entered to complete portions of text in the hallowed scripture. Which ofcourse humans will lend their view and bend words to create what they feel is right.

        Hmm... I'm gonna give ya a break for now, hopefully the conclusion will come next time. Laters mon! =+}

          I have a Greek interlinear text of the New Testament. I found that very enlightening. It's amazing what one misplaced comma even, can do to bugger a scripture.

          I have a few versions and actually found the New World Translation (Jehovah's Witnesses use) to be the least bastardized, so to say.

          Cheers!

            Heh, if ya think the Greek is a pain, check out the hebrew, oui! That took me forever to get thru. =+P

            I don't think I've looked at the New World Translation, I'll have to bump my old list for curiosity sake. =+}

          The Finale:

          Once out of school and a bad car wreck that knocked me outta college, I went from job to job, never worked in one place for more than eight months. I hooked up with other religions; New Age, Indian Shamamism, Jamican Voodo (it's thanks to these guys that I got stuck with the mon thing =+D), and finally Wiccan.

          Well, realization set in that I wasn't getting anywhere financially and ofcourse the pay in New Orleans ain't that great, so I swallowed my pride and joined the Air Force. Talk about a whole other world! Went from mistrust of the brainwashed military to distrust of the everyday civillian. LOL!

          After basic training I spent nine months in the Areospace Ground Equipment (AGE) technical training school, and ran into a colorful group of other military folk that are Wiccans. I attended a number of the gatherings, noticing that a few of them were there just to get out of extra duties. But I was able to merge the very concept of Wiccanism with my Catholic faith by a simple solution. Just for an example: one Wiccan lady worshipped the tree spirit of Dryad as her connection to the earth and the life on the planet. I framed it in my mind that she was worshiping the spirit of God who created the tree and the life on earth.

          The only thing on the Wiccan side of the house I don't bother with is the magic, but that is simply because I haven't seen any of it work yet. =+}

          Take care mon, I did shrivel that one up just 'cause Im tired as all heck. Laters! =+D

            Wow, we got this thread so long, that your later replies didn't show, until I replied to the earlier ones :-)

            The way I believe the magick works is it acts as visuallization to alter *yourself* and create your own circumstance to align you with your need or desire.

            Can we change the surroundings to suit us? No. Can we change ourselves to interact with our surroundings better? You betcha!

            Cheers!

              That was my initial take on it also. So I'm kinda wondering if the magic some of those folk were trying to use wasn't from an entirely different practice. =+\

              A motor designed to work on 220 VAC 400 Hz, just don't work right when ya give it 120 VAC 60 Hz, so I would think the concept applies here also. =+}

              And I guess I did get a little long winded there in the posts. =+D

                Someone traded me a Navy gun turret servo for a box of tubes. I was 14, didn't even THINK of checking the frequency, just the volts, it did two slowwww revs with a BIG hummmm and smoke and fire ensued :-(

                  Heh, could b worse. I saw the end result of a motor electromagnetically launching its' bearings, armature shaft, and some of the end housing windings thru the wall of a building. He was a newb and didn't know to check if the retaining setscrews were installed on the end plate, he didn't even realized the innards had launched 'cause he was busy trying to put out the flaming remains of the motor shell with his suddenly overactive bladder. =+}

                  The buggers lucky the circuit breaker blew. =+D

                      LOL! An instructor in one of my very first tech school classes did that, good thing it was a small one hooked up to a car battery. Still an interesting show to see the instructor dive for cover once he realized his mistake. =+}

        And don't worry a bit about religon when it comes to me, as far as I am concerned it is all a state of mind and a personality trait. =+}

            Well, here goes:

            I was born and raised in an intolerant Roman Catholic faith, at the age of 12 I was kicked out of CCD, which I feel is an unacceptable series of sessions meant to program future Catholics to Aadhere to religious intollerance.

            Oops! Late night warning horn went off. I gotta run, but I will return to this subject mon. Laters! =+}
