Mutiny

Viv was sat on the edge of one of the beds playing with a couple of her thick blue dreads whilst Bryma was sat at his console, busying himself with medical files, trying to piece them back together so he could update them before closing them down and informing the families of the deceased crew members about what had happened in the Onnwann sector.

The double doors slid open and Chester walked in with Ray trailing behind him.

''Stec'll be asleep for another thirty minutes, so I'll make this quick and easy.'' Viv said, looking from one man to the other. ''Tomorrow night, we sneak into Stec's quarters and over power him. Once we render him unconsciouse, we tie him up and drag him to the nearest air lock. Unfortunately, the closest air lock to the captain's room is on the floor above at the far end of the hall. But fortunately, we now have the muscle to shift him.'' She said glancing at Chester. ''And don't worry. Before we space him, we'll collect a few things off him first.''

''Like what?'' Ray asked supsiciously.

''His blood. But not enough to kill him. I want the bastard alive and consciouse when that outer door opens.'' Viv said coldly.

''What's the other?''

''His ill claimed captaincy. Any other questions?''

They all shook their heads, knowing who was going to take over from Stec.

Chester sat in the cockpit, staring straight ahead. He hadn't seen the stars from this perspective before and he stared in silent awe as they encircled him, seemingly stretching on for an eternity.

Bryma, Viv and Ray were going about their business, secretly waiting for Stec to retire to his quarters. Chester had just got back from his own sleep cycle as had Viv and both were on the bridge. Chester could hear Stec behind him as the Shark stifled his yawns. Viv was tapping something into one of the security panels on the far side of the bridge.

''I'm going for my sleep cycle now. I'll be back on the bridge in an hour, so don't let anything go wrong.'' Stec grunted.

Chester waitied for a few minutes after the doors slid shut again before putting the ship on auto pilot.

''Give it another five minutes.'' Viv said shortly.

Chester fidgeted in the pilot's seat, quietly praying and hoping that nothing would go wrong.

It was his second day on board the Hunter and already he hated Stec.

The hallway was quiet and Chester was walking behind Viv as she crept towards the door of the captain's quarters.

From around the corner Bryma and Ray were watching and waiting quietly. Viv took up her position on the other side of the door, typed in a code on a hidden security panel and motioned for the Raven and Gazelle to approach.

''Ready? Got the rope?'' Viv whispered.

Ray held up some rope and Viv nodded.

''What you got there?'' Chester asked Bryma quietly.

The Gazelle held up a capped syringe full of green liquid. ''It's kind of an alarm call in liquid form. Y'know, in case he's still out cold by the time we get him to the air lock?''

Viv smiled tightly and opened the door.

The room was small with one large window with a bed benathe it. Stec lay sprawled across the bed, snoring, his tail twitching slightly.

Viv looked at the sprawled Great White and rolled her eyes as if to say ''Typical.'', forcing Bryma to force back a snort of laughter.

The four of them took up position on either side of the single bed and Viv nodded at Ray, who gingerly started to bind the Shark's hands together behind his back.

Stec grunted and fidgeted, sliding a hand out of the loose knot.

Everyone in the room froze as Stec shifted. Ray stood frozen to the spot as Viv carefully replaced Stec's hand back into the partially tied knot.

Stec grunted again and his full black eyes shot open. He roared and swore angrily as Ray quickly pulled the knot tight.

''Mutineers!'' The Shark roared. ''You ungrateful bastards!''

He swung his legs over the edge of the bed as he rolled and stood up, towering over Ray and Bryma, lips pulled back in a snarl full of teeth.

Viv jumped on his back but was thrown off onto the floor. Chester launched himself at Stec as Ray and Bryma ducked out of the way of his flailing tail. The Shark reeled back when the Vampire landed a blow on his jaw. Viv jumped up and threw herself at Stec, knocking him over. Chester saw his chance and without thinking, picked up the other length of rope that Ray had dropped and bound the Shark's feet together.

Stec growled something unintellagable as Viv straddled his chest.

''You're the one who wanted him on the crew, and I must say, that's the first wise decision you've ever made.'' The Fruit Bat said sweetly before standing up and kicking him in the ribs.

''Ok. Screw the uncosncious bit, take him to air lock two.'' Viv said as she retrieved the captain's badges.

There was a short chorus of ''Yes captain'' and Stec's eyes grew wide with terror.

''You can't do this!'' He bellowed.

''We just have.'' Bryma said as he helped Chester haul Stec towards the door.

Stec argued and cursed as he was dragged towards the designated air lock.

Viv opened the air lock's interior door, ignoring Stec wriggling on the floor and cursing behind her.
