Artist commentary

Well, I can see why THIS comic is so popular!

Here's an impression of me reading Penny Arcade: "I don't get it. I don't get it. I don't get it. Hmm, a Star Wars reference. I don't get it. I don't get it." And so forth.

I was pleased with the way Tycho turned out. I think he might actually look BETTER as a raccoon. Gabe, not so much.

    If you don't understand the video game references, then all the other humor is probably lost on you too. It's like a package deal.

      I've actually laughed at Penny Arcade several times. When they don't talk about games, I get it, so I guess I actually CAN see why this comic is so popular. I'm just not a gamer.

    Personally, I thought it was funny. I actually read over all the balloons and got a real kick out of the end.

    Oddly, it made me think of Ozy and Millie. This is just surreal enough to be a part of that universe.

    Also, you're right. He looks good as a raccoon. Gabe looks good, too. The look suits him.

    You know, I found this to be pretty amusing. It's a dry kind of humor most people don't appreciate... and a kind of humor most of my work is based around. :)

    ...Though, you probably could have interjected "STAR WARS" or "GEEK CULTURE STEREOTYPE" every so often in there.

      What? How dare you criticize my work!

      Just kidding. The more I think about it, the more I see everyone's point. It's alright, it's only the second comic strip I've ever done. My next one will be better!

      But, I don't think anyone's read the last two words of the last panel. I don't know, *I* thought it was a punch line.

    But Penny Arcade hates furries.

    Also, you fail at wit. Jesus christ, at least put in some more substantial text next time.

      Heh, I think that was the point of this comic. =+\
      Empty words of adulation and appreciation do not allow an artist to grow. Overly critical and out right attacks on an artists' work are even more damaging.

        Thank you! I probably should've said that myself instead of going into smart-ass overload. Oh, well.

          No worries mon. Everyone looks at things differently and that was the conclusion I came to. We can't see into other artists minds, ofcourse I must admit that the comment seemed a bit harsh, so remember that some folks constructive input can be rather abrasive. =+}

          Hence one of the reasons I removed all my stuff from fchan, unless yer a pro they love to destroy yer works. =+{

      You know, until now I'd met so many nice, polite, friendly furries that I was beginning to think that the stereotype of them being ignorant sociopaths wasn't true!

        This is called criticism. It's what happens when you don't do something right. Be prepared to see a lot of it in the future.

        Those polite furries? They're into the whole "love everyone no matter what" thing that's throwing the fandom down the shitter. I'm not. There's a lot of people like me that call bullshit when they see it, and it isn't always just to get a rise out of you.

          You know what, you're right. It was just the first real criticism I've received. Not to mention I spent all day on this and it seemed to get a slightly more positive reaction on FA. But, I did not need to resort to childish name calling and for that I am sorry

          HOWEVER...

          You could have a little more tact in the future and offer CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. Saying things like "Jesus Christ" "You fail at wit" to someone you don't know is a little off putting. And, likewise, me calling you, someone *I* don't know, an "ignorant sociopath" is probably a little "off-putting" as well, to say the least.

          If you would like to continue this discussion, please feel free to send me a personal note. I don't want to start drama over something so trivial, and I would like to reserve this space for comments about this piece, be they positive OR negative comments.
