Missy and the Red Dragon - Pray by *undyingsong

Artist commentary

An older, personal piece. This one is probably a little over a year old now.

The human depicted is my character, Missy. She sees monsters.. a lot.

This one seeks to have ownership over her soul.

media is watercolors, colored pencils and ink.

Wow, so much beautiful texture in this piece! You have beautiful watercolor skills. Very lovely (although I'm not quite seeing the 'horror'! More beauty than horror. ;)

      Thank you so much!!

To me, this image is horrific. It was based off of a frightening experience, and the imagery of a big, scary dragon baring its teeth at a small girl is scary to most people. XD

The chaotic way I chose to render the background comes across as scary to me, too. As if her surroundings have become skewed due to the presence of the monster.
This will fool them unless they look at it.

That is amazing! I love the texture and color. It sounds like you have pretty complex stories to go along with your paintings. Do you have any designs on publishing your stories, or have you already done so? I would certainly buy your books.

Thank you so much, I'm very glad you like this! ^^

The truth is, I do not consider myself a very good writer. My ability to weave stories together and tell them in a coherent manner are.. maybe not completely non-existant, but close. That is why I try to tell stories through my artwork, since I do not write very well.

I'm completely honored that you would do so, however. I've been practicing with comic ideas and other sequential artworks, and am hoping to create comics sometime in the future.
