Artist commentary

A clouded leopard practicing her swordplay in a rainshower...

I'm rather fascinated with Ancient China, and the artistic cinematography in Hong Kong kung fu movies set in Ancient China, such as "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", and "Hero" - which provided inspiration for this piece.

I also wanted to really have a setting that felt real - that felt like the character was really immersed in the setting - using lighting, perspective, and the rain to unify the piece.

This is beautiful. She reminds me of a character right out of Crouching tiger. It gives the feel of a midnight sword fight by moon light.
